Lessons from A Wandering Mind

I could write a book with this title. Most writers have this and hence they become writers. With stories running in our minds constantly, we can live and outlive our own imagination. Which is why we are extremists too. But this is not about being a writer or not.

A wandering mind, as much as we would like, is not just a writers prerogative. A sales person could be nurturing it, a space engineer might be unconsciously functioning with it, and even a plumber might be living with it. But what propels us, also stops us. That feeling of being stuck when we cant think of multiple options of achieving what we want — can be a dangerous place.

We get so habituated to being on a trip with our own selves and getting results too, its not easy to take a slower pace then. Feeling stuck, inaction, comes easy then. As much as we don’t want to be in that state, it slowly starts becoming your ideal. It’s like sugar. You keep having it, and not feel a thing. But after a month of all the sweet overload, the waist does not fit in regular jeans and unnecessary curves start showing up.

What do we do then? How do we get out of it? Worse, how long do we nurture it, because in our heads we know even this damn feeling has developed its own ego. It won’t go without a good massage.

So here’s what I concluded today — the lesson from a wandering mind that I wanted to share. The answer lies in G.A.O. — Go All Out. Yes. With everything. Nurture the downward spiral. But Go All Out with the feeling of wanting to get out of this too. Don’t think of what the world will make of you. Don’t stop yourself on anything. If you have a wandering mind, well let it go all out and BLOOM. It’s a privilege and don’t let the society define you otherwise. This would be a tough journey to take. You can’t even fathom the pitfalls your own mind will take you through. But it would be worth it. Because you can’t function any other way. Your own being is too strong to fall into line now.

For someone who doesn’t define any boundaries, it is only right to FLOW. Be watchful, be aware, of everything within you and around you. But don’t stop on anything. That’s the only way you will ever know that your mind was never meant to be at one place. It was created to explore, to invent, to create. Get in with your journey!
